Govt to resolve issues in Digital Security Act: Law Minister

Probashbangla24 Desk : Law Minister Anisul Haque said the government will take steps to resolve the issues in the Digital Security Act 2018 about which the Editors Council have expressed their concern.

The minister came up with the remarks while briefing reporters after a meeting with Editors Council on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the newspaper editors expressed their hope that it is possible to reach an reasonable solution through negotiations.

The Digital Security Act has been passed on 19th September amid the concern of the journalists and the editors.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and PM’s Information Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury were also present in the meeting while 14 editors were present on behalf of the Editors Council.

The Digital Security Act will become a law once the president approves.

Expressing their concern over the act, Editors Council the program called a human chain on 19th September.

They, however, postponed the program after Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu proposed them to sit in a meeting in this regard.

“The editors have expressed their concern over Section 8, 21, 25, 28, 29, 31, 32, 43 and 53,” said the law minister adding that the cabinet will discuss and consider their objections against the sections.
