Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named a 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe series at home. As Bangladesh’s dependable opener Tamim Iqbal has been rested due to his injury from last Asia Cup and Shakib under rehabilitation programme, it was expected that the selectors might pick new faces against Zimbabwe. However, the board didn’t add any surprise in the squad except naming Fazle Mahmud Rabbi for the first time. The uncapped 30-year-old Fazle is a batting all-rounder who have flourished himself in domestic circuits for last couple of years.
